Mark Fay – Marriage Celebrant in Perth, Wedding MC & Author
Meet Mark Fay.
I'm Mark Fay, the founder of Mark Your Ceremony, a Perth-based wedding celebrant and MC business established in 2020. Since then, I've been helping couples create personal wedding ceremonies and enjoyable celebrations, combining professional preparation with a fun, relaxed approach.
My professional background spans teaching, international tour guiding and marriage celebrancy. Before entering the wedding industry, I worked as a qualified teacher and spent approximately 10 years guiding tours throughout Europe. These experiences helped develop my communication skills, confidence speaking to groups and ability to connect with people from different backgrounds
Today, I bring those skills into my work as a Perth marriage celebrant and wedding MC. I understand that planning a wedding involves more than choosing a venue and organising a ceremony. Couples also need reliable information, clear guidance and an understanding of the practical and legal steps involved in getting married..
My Professional Background
From Teaching and Tour Guiding to Celebrancy
My earlier professional experience has played an important role in shaping how I approach my work today.
Teaching taught me the importance of explaining information clearly and adapting communication to different people. My 10 years of tour guiding in Europe gave me further experience engaging audiences, managing group experiences and communicating across cultural backgrounds.
Since establishing Mark Your Ceremony in 2020, I've brought these skills together through my work as a marriage celebrant and wedding MC. Preparation, public speaking and the ability to respond to different situations are all important parts of delivering a successful wedding celebration.
Whether I'm conducting a personalised ceremony or hosting a wedding reception, my aim is to make couples and their guests feel comfortable, included and involved.
Working With Couples
Every couple approaches their wedding differently. Their priorities, family circumstances, cultural backgrounds and ideas about the ceremony all influence the decisions they make.
My approach is to communicate clearly, listen to what couples want and help them understand the practical considerations involved in their plans. I believe good preparation and straightforward communication can make the planning process more manageable.
My experience working with couples also informs the perspective I bring to the information published on this website. Where a question involves a legal requirement, I recognise the importance of distinguishing official obligations from personal preferences and general wedding advice.

My Commitment to Accurate Wedding Information
Wedding planning often involves a mixture of personal choices, administrative procedures and legal requirements. Understanding the difference matters.
When information concerns getting married in Australia, official government guidance and applicable legislation should take precedence over general advice published online.
For example, the Australian Government's Attorney-General's Department provides information about authorised marriage celebrants, the marriage process and the responsibilities associated with solemnising marriages.
I aim to help readers understand wedding-related information in clear language and identify when they should consult an official source for confirmation. Legal requirements can change, and individual circumstances may affect the guidance a person needs.
Where an article covers a subject that requires specialist advice, readers should seek guidance from the relevant authority or appropriately qualified professional.
Inclusivity & Respect for Every Couple
I believe couples should be able to explore their wedding options in an environment where they feel respected and comfortable.
Mark Your Ceremony publicly identifies as LGBTQIA+-friendly and welcomes couples from different backgrounds and identities. I recognise that each relationship and celebration is personal, and that couples may have different cultural traditions, family circumstances and expectations for their ceremony.
Clear communication and respect for those differences are important parts of helping couples plan a celebration that reflects their wishes.
